Author Guidelines for IBT Journal of Business Studies (JBS)

Categories of Submissions

JBS welcomes submissions in three main categories:

  1. Research Articles: These submissions should present original research relevant to the academic and practitioner communities that comprise the JBS audience. Research articles undergo a blind peer review process. Manuscripts should range between 5,000 to 7,000 words*, including an abstract of up to 250 words and a maximum of five keywords.
  2. Research Essays: JBS accepts concise research essays that engage with significant current trends in fields within its scope. These essays should be no longer than 2,000 words*. They are designed to provoke thought and discussion among academics and practitioners and identify future research challenges.

Note: Word limits do not include the title, abstract, keywords, footnotes, tables, or references.

Manuscript Preparation
  • Submissions should be in Word document format (.docx). Separate files for embedded elements (e.g., tables, figures) may be required in different formats.
  • Manuscripts may use either British or American English but must maintain consistency throughout. Accepted manuscripts will be edited to align with American English.
  • Formatting: Use Times New Roman font. The title should be 12 pts, main headings 11 pts, subheadings and body text 10 pts, and abstracts/lists 9 pts. Headings should be bold and placed on separate lines, with subheadings italicized. Text should be justified, while the title should be centered.
  • Avoid abbreviations and references in the abstract unless absolutely necessary. Abbreviations should be defined at their first mention in the main text.
  • Italics or single inverted commas should be used for emphasis. Use the table function for tables, ensuring clear captions and data sources when applicable. Figures should follow the same rules as tables.
References

JBS accepts any consistent reference format. However, the journal adheres to the latest American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines, and authors may be required to adjust their formatting accordingly upon acceptance. Full references must include: author name(s), title of the work (journal article/book chapter), journal name and volume/issue (if applicable), book title, publisher, city of publication, year, and page range (where applicable). The use of DOIs is encouraged. Ensure that all in-text citations match the reference list and vice versa.

Review Process

JBS uses a double-blind peer review process for research articles. Manuscripts should not contain any identifying information. Authors can request editing services if needed.
